Braid Hills Tree Planting

Published February 26, 2025 by in

This week volunteers from Artemis supported us with our Braid Hills tree planting project. Volunteers planted 110 new trees including a mixture of species such as cherry, hazel, blackthorn and aspen. This brings the total number of new trees planted at the Braid Hills over the past couple of years to 1,210. This is a brilliant achievement and we are very grateful for everyone who has supported this project. We want to say a special thank you to Trees for Cities who helped us organise the volunteer day. We were also joined by volunteers from the Friends of the Braid Hills who are doing a fantastic job caring for their local greenspace.

The new trees are a wonderful addition that support the Edinburgh Million Tree City initiative, helping us reach the goal of 1 million trees in Edinburgh by 2030. They will enhance biodiversity on the hill, provide more diverse habitat for local wildlife, and help us tackle climate change.

If your organisation would like to help us plant and care for trees, find out more about our corporate support opportunities! If you think you can help, please get in touch with us at treetime@elgt.org.uk.
