Storm Éowyn
Published January 27, 2025 by Richard in Tree Time News
This weekend we have seen many trees coming down across Edinburgh and the Lothians due to Storm Éowyn. This has been a stark reminder that we need to plant more trees to replace those that are being lost. With these big, destructive storms occurring more frequently, our work is more important than ever.
It is particularly important to plant large, prominent trees which are a key part of Edinburgh’s heritage. Some trees can live for hundreds, even thousands, of years. It can take decades for these trees to reach maturity so it’s important to plant them before existing trees are lost. With weather events like Storm Éowyn occuring on a more regular basis, these trees are at greater risk and it is even more urgent that we plant their replacements now.
How can you help?
This is where you come in! We need your help to plant more trees. You can support us directly by making a donation to Tree Time through the website, sharing our website with friends and family, or planting trees in your garden.
You can choose to donate in your preferred area; Edinburgh, East Lothian or West Lothian. All general donations go towards street tree planting projects in your chosen area, or you can choose to donate a tree in your local park or greenspace.
Tree Time is part of the Edinburgh Million Tree City initiative.
